It is extremely exciting to dress your new little bundle of joy. There are so many cute outfits out there for both boys and girls. It is important to properly prepare for your newborn’s wardrobe so that you get the most useful and adorable clothing without overdoing it.
Consider how much you really need
Even if you want to buy everything in sight, remember that your baby will grow very quickly. Most infants go through an entire wardrobe every three months. Also take into account how many gifts you will get. You do not want to have a closetful of clothing that your child has outgrown but never wore.
Consider sizing
Infant clothing typically comes in three month intervals. It starts at newborn, then goes 0-3 months (or 3 months), 3-6 months (or 6 months), 6-9 months and so forth. Some misguided parents create an extensive wardrobe solely of newborn size clothing. Do not do this. Remember that your newborn will outgrow those quickly and some babies arrive so big that they skip the newborn clothing size altogether. Some even skip the 0-3 month size or at least outgrow it very quickly.
To avoid overspending, you may want to wait until the baby is born and you see his or her size before filling up the closet. Also, you can ask people to give you clothing in slightly larger or different sizes so that you will have an array of clothing for the baby’s first year and not just way too much for the first three months.
